Using Socie as a private social media app?

social media app

You can use the Socie platform in several ways. One of the most commonly used modules of Socie is the groups timeline with the interactive groups. In these, members post messages (videos and images) and can comment or leave emojis.

Most communities use these groups of timelines along with other modules and choose to use the overview page to use as a home page. But you don’t have to.

Instantly all group communications on your home screen

You see it quite often on the well-known social media platforms. It is also possible with Socie to display all group communications directly on your app home screen.

This creates your own “social media” app in which members instantly see all posts in the groups and can respond to them.

All posts from the groups you are a member of are displayed here on the timeline.

Your own social media app in 4 steps

If you want to use Socie primarily for group communication and group chat, follow the steps below, and create your own social media app.

Don’t have a Socie app yet? Then create a Socie app and create a Socie account.

Note, for all the steps around creating a basic community including your security settings follow the steps in this blog.

Step 1: Login to Community Management to manage your app

Let’s start by creating your own social media app. To customize your app, work with our Community Manager. You can use it directly through the app, but to get started it might be easier to access it through the browser on your computer. The web version also gives you more detailed insights. Log in via this link. Below you can see what the interface will look like.

Step 2: Create some interactive groups

Within the community management, go to Groups and create 2 or more interactive groups here.

For all the details on creating groups and settings, follow this guide.

Tip #1: Add some members to these groups right away. No members yet? Then add some trial members.

Tip 2: Through the Socie app, post some (test) messages in various groups. Then you will soon see the effect on the groups timeline.

Step 3: Deactivate or delete all irrelevant modules

Now deactivate or remove all irrelevant modules for your app. Go to Settings -> Module management. Hier zie je een overzicht van je actieve modules.

  • Remove module ->

Click on a module you want to delete click “delete” at the top.

  • Hide module in the App ->

Click on a module you want to delete and scroll to the Visibility block. Click here Edit. Set visibility to “disabled.”

Do this for all the modules you don’t want to use now. Later you can add other modules to your community.

Step 4: Set the groups timeline as the home page of your Socie App

The last step now is to put your modules in the right place.

Among these, changing the home page is the most important.

Go to Settings -> Navigation.

If you have not discarded or disabled the overview module, you will see that the overview page (Overview) in the navigation bar is still there as the home page.

Click on Edit and now drag the Groups module all the way to the top. Note the module comes under the My Events, My Notifications and My Groups. Click Save.

Now restart the Socie App.

Well done!

The Group Timeline has now become your app home page.

Have fun with your own social media app.
