The bulletin board module in Socie is a module used by many communities. It is the ideal module for quick and easy interaction. In this blog you will read why and how to use the bulletin board module can use for your community.
What is the Socie bulletin board module?
With the Socie message board module you can easily enable members and groups to post a message in the Socie app.
The name bulletin board module also indicates that basically anyone can “post” things on the bulletin board. You used to pin bills to a corkboard with a thumbtack and now you do this easily digitally in the app. You can choose text, images, video or a combination thereof. Other members can post responses to your message.

What makes the Socie bulletin board module different?
The unique thing about this module is, you give all members, certain members or certain groups the ability to post something in the community through the app.
With that, members can quickly and easily share something through the app and see immediate results.
- Choose who can post messages: You can set who can post on the bulletin board for each bulletin board.
- Choose whether members are allowed to comment: You can set per message board whether members are allowed to respond to posted messages.
- Choose who can see the bulletin board: By default, Socie allows you to show modules to specific groups.
In short: You can set who can see that bulletin board, who can post something and whether people can respond to it.
Members post messages by phone and not through management
The beauty of the bulletin board module is that posting is done via phone or iPad.
So this does not have to be done through the community management making it easy for community members or groups to post something.
It is also possible within this module to post something as a group you are part of. This allows, for example, a board or a business department to post something.

How is the Socie bulletin board module deployed?
The Society bulletin board module is widely used by our communities. The beauty of this module is that you can add it multiple times to your community app. You can give each bulletin board its own name, icon and settings. We know communities that use more than 10 pinboards. How many you want to use is up to you!
The bulletin board module is now offered within Socie by default as both “bulletin board” and “marketplace. As soon as you go to modules and add modules you will come across them. You can add them but the module can be used in many other ways.
Some examples of practical applications from our communities:
Members
- Members can let the community know their concerns.
- A business/store posts offers in the app for a village or neighborhood in the bulletin board ‘offers’
- Members can request help from the community
- One of the coaches shares a new exercise on the bulletin board
- A new member of a networking organization introduces herself
Groups
- The technical department can use the bulletin board to report “malfunctions,” faults and defects in a building. People cannot respond to these.
- Someone from the board posts a message as ‘board’ in the message board
- Someone post photo of volunteer group as ‘volunteer group’
- The live reporters group covers a sports game live with intermediate scores, photos and videos.
Convenient notifications
By default, as a community administrator, you can choose whether a module sends notifications by default. The same applies to bulletin boards. Members can always turn notifications on or off at their reports. Members who have activated notifications on this module will receive notifications of new posts and comments.

Safety first
At Socie, we like to create safe communities.
Also with the bulletin board module it is possible for members to make notifications about posted content via the app.
These come in to the community administrators so the administrators can keep the app neat and professional. Posts can be edited or deleted immediately by administrators.

Additional Tip for Community Administrators
Would you like to know how the Socie bulletin board module test it out? Then add a bulletin board in your app and show it only to a specific group so that it is not yet visible to all members. For example, give only the group “app administrators” access and make sure that you as administrator are in this group. To set up at the message board, click on Module settings -> and under To be used by for the group.
That way you can test and try out message boards without bothering members.
Good luck using the Socie bulletin board module!
