Socie is proud to have recently welcomed multiple women’s networks to the app. This women’s day, we want to put several of these networks in the spotlight and encourage you to learn from them and to be inspired by them.
Women’s networks are on the rise – and as important as ever. While the glass ceiling is slowly cracking (although it is far from breaking), women still only make up 29% of C-Suite managers worldwide (McKinsey). Therefore, it is important for women to have spaces in which they can network with each other, discuss challenges they encounter at work and provide each other with opportunities to advance their careers. Brian Uzzi found that women network differently than men, too. While men usually build broad networks and focus on quantity, women focus on the quality of their connections. Spaces which are exclusively available to women allow them to do precisely that while simultaneously supporting them in developing new competences and confidence.
Next to providing women with additional ways to network, women’s networks can be a great source of support. Women, just like other minorities, face unique difficulties in the workplace. These can be sensitive issues and women might not always feel comfortable bringing them up at their workplace or within their usual social contexts. Women’s networks can normalize the experiences women face at work and can provide first-hand experience to solving issues such as:
- Double standards and biases
- Lack of training and mentorship opportunities
- Unequal pay and benefits
Socie is proud to have recently welcomed multiple women’s networks counteracting these and other widespread issues to the app. These networks have entrusted Socie with providing a secure platform, where their members can connect, ask advice, learn from each other and provide opportunities to each other. This women’s day, we want to put several of these networks in the spotlight and encourage you to learn from them and to be inspired by them.
FrauenNetzwerk Bau
The FrauenNetzwerk Bau is a network for women in the construction industry. Women working in a male dominated industry come together from all over Germany to discuss different topics and to attend different workshops, webinars or events. Additionally, the network has a mentoring program where students, managers and everyone in between can get mentoring on entering the industry and or being promoted to leadership positions within the industry.
The overarching goal of FrauenNetzwerk Bau is to increase the percentage of women working on all levels of the industry. They believe that the responsibility of tasks as well as job prospects can be carried better, if the industry is more accessible to women of all job levels.

Future of Twente
Future of Twente is based in the Netherlands. They believe that the future of Twente will be more successful if companies in the region build inclusive teams and focus on gender equality. To achieve this they actively get involved and help companies to make this move.
Additionally they provide a mentoring program for young professionals. Future of Twente also organizes events, like workshops and lectures where women meet and network with each other, as well as with partner companies of the region.

SoSu
Sanne and Sanne founded SoSu in 2018. They were missing a space where they could learn about every-day topics such as work, finances and lifestyle. As a result they founded SoSu. Now they are organizing all kinds of events from networking festivals to masterclasses and speeches. Members can choose which events they want to attend. This allows them to meet women who are closely aligned with their interests and can swap tips, inspiration and experience. Especially women who want to be inspired beyond work and career will feel at home here.

Dames in Zaken
Dames in Zaken is a Dutch women’s network where personal growth of women is central. Even though, or maybe because, women often have many balls in the air at once, they find it essential to create a space in which women can grow and develop. Thereby they see the sensitivity many women have as special strength that can help navigate an often harsh world.
Damens in Zaken partners with many different local and national companies, providing women with insight, opportunity and inspiration, by organizing company visits. Additionally, they host regular networking dinners where women can come together and discuss what moves them.
